Starting off on a Snowy, windy, cold week, but Spring is just around the corner !!! How do we know that ?
We saw the first batch of Soft Shell Crabs arrive from Florida this week. Albeit the quality was just so so and could not justify the high price (about $85.00/dz), it is a sure sign that Spring will be here sooner rather than later.
Beautiful 12-15# Dayboat caught Icelandic Cod at great price. Good alternative to high priced/short supply Halibut.
Super quality 15-20# Mahi Mahi from Ecuador
Fresh farm raised Sablefish (Black Cod), 6-8# size from British Columbia. A true sushi grade fish and Monterey Bay Aquarium green rated
Farmed Sturgeon Bullets - 10# average
Locally - Good supplies of Monkfish and Skate.
Plenty of nice Jumbo Black Sea Bass
SCALLOPS - Good supplies of 10/20ct at good prices. Some U/10 and U/12 Available at a bit higher prices. And looking forward to seeing some of the seasons first U/8’s from Nantucket Lightship area off Massachusetts. Hopefully be in for Thursday. Also we will have nice Live scallops avail for the weekend.
We’ve got a few 1-2# Pompano avail. Call early to reserve.
Plenty of nice #1 Sushi grade Tuna as well as 2+ grade.
As for Halibut : We are receiving limited amounts of Dayboat fish from Nova Scotia. Prices are firm as demand outweighs supplies currently. Everyone is looking forward to the start of the West Coast season (Alaska, Canada) which opens March 15th. It will usually take a couple weeks to start filling up the market, but a good time to plan Spring menu’s with Halibut as prices should moderate between April - October.
